Claudia grew up in Los Angeles, CA after her family emigrated from Michoacán, Mexico. She is a first generation college graduate from Cal State LA with a BA in Social Work with an emphasis in child abuse and family violence. Claudia has worked in a variety of settings within the social work field over the years and currently leads the Student and Family Advocates in the Provo City School District, a sub-department of Student Services which focuses on working with migrant, refugee, immigrant and at-risk youth and families.
Claudia is also the director of Ella Rises, a non profit organization that supports young Latinas by providing enriching opportunities in the areas of Art, Music, STEM and Mental Health with a strong focus on cultural reconnection. She loves to dedicate her time and energy to folkloric dance, camping and spending time with her husband and two kids.
Centro Hispano has embraced the butterfly as its new logo due to its profound symbolism of transformation, hope, and rebirth. This choice parallels the remarkable resilience displayed by immigrants and migrant workers, underscoring the universal right of every human being to move freely.
